Some Medicare Plans cover health club memberships.
Plans that Do Not Cover Gym Memberships
Gym memberships are not covered by Original Medicare, Medicare Part A or Medicare Part B. Medicare Supplement Plans do not usually cover the cost of gym memberships.
Plans that May Cover Gym Memberships
Medicare Advantage plans may offer coverage of gym memberships. Medicare Advantage offers the same amount of coverage as Original Medicare (except for hospice care which is covered under Medicare Part A) and may offer additional benefits which may include gym membership.
Please note that if you are covered under a Medicare Advantage plan, you are still responsible for your Medicare Part B premium in addition to your Medicare Advantage plan premium.
Certain Medicare plans are covered by private, Medicare-approved insurance companies. This means that the availability and benefits of each plan will differ by location. Comparing plans in your area may be the best way to find a plan that covers a fitness membership.
